The Opposite of Destiny

Is there a word for the opposite of destiny, to described seomthing where, no matter what you did, or how hard you tried, it was just never going to happen?

Never is a long time. And predicting the future is trick. Destiny doesn't always give you what you want, but it just might exceed your wildest expectations
